The Excitement is Growing!

During 2024, St. Mary’s Catholic Church is celebrating the 150th Anniversary of our parish and the 100th Anniversary of our current church building.  Sunday, August 25, 2024 at 4:30 p.m., Bishop William Joensen, of the Des Moines Diocese, will be in Hamburg to celebrate our Jubilee Mass.  We are hoping to have former priests and parishioners in attendance to share our memories and this special occasion.  

Church committees are in the process of planning activities to celebrate this Jubilee throughout the year, and we would love for you and your family to be included in the festivities. We have prepared ourselves spiritually by experiencing the 33 Days to Morning Glory self-guided retreat which ended on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception.  We have a large banner in the church hall of a chalice with the logo “Our Cup Runneth Over” for the faithful to record 150 hours of prayer and service.  Our children who are now being taught in our beautiful new Religious Education Center are also participating with projects geared to the 150th Anniversary Celebration.

• 6:00 p.m. Parish Family Meal and entertainment, St. Mary's Church Hall

• 4:00 p.m. 150th Celebration Mass with Bishop Joneson

• Coffee and cake reception to follow Mass in St. Mary's Church Hall

Even though it may have been years since you attended Mass at St. Mary's, we would love for you to be included as we display our memories.  If you would take a moment to jot down a memory from your time spent at St. Mary’s we would love to share this during our celebration and in upcoming weekly bulletins.  If you have a picture of yourself (and your family), please include that too.  Space permitting, we will try to include your name and memory in the new church directory which is being created as part of the 150th  Anniversary Celebration.
